'Colours Create Comfort' is an initiative dedicated to softening the hospital environment by providing framed, colourful artwork made by school students for display in the paediatric wings of government hospitals. Hospitals can be strange, frightening and intimidating places especially for children and this initiative aims to provide comfort and alleviate the anxiety experienced by young patients during their hospital visits. It seeks to address the mental well-being of young patients in the stark and often bleak atmosphere faced by the young patients in paediatric wards of hospitals catering to the underprivileged in New Delhi. Many families in New Delhi, particularly those from low-income backgrounds, rely on government hospitals for their children's healthcare needs, these wards, while providing essential medical care, often lack the vibrancy and warmth necessary for the emotional well-being of children undergoing treatment. Tackling this issue is important, as a pleasant hospital environment can have a significant impact on the healing process. These efforts have gained support from the hospital administrative and medical staff, who have also found themselves uplifted by the cheerful surroundings. I have already provided framed artwork to Deen Dayal Upadhyay, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital & Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital to brighten up their paediatric wards. By continuing to supply colourful artworks and involving children, I hope that the positive impact of ‘Colours Create Comfort’ persists over time, benefitting generations of young patients to come!
